Pop tarts with mango and passion fruit jam
We've fallen for these pop tarts, made with our new mango and passion fruit jam! Halfway between a tart and a biscuit, this dessert consists of a baked pastry topped with jam. So if you've got any leftover pastry, here's the recipe you need to use it up. We love zero waste cooking! What's more, you can top these biscuits with jam, jelly, spread or anything else you like to suit you and your guests!
Ingredients for 6 tarts
- 100g softened butter
- 80g icing sugar
- 3g fine salt
- 1 egg
- 200g flour
- Mango and passion fruit jam Albert Ménès
Preparation
In the bowl of a food processor or in a mixing bowl, beat the butter, icing sugar and salt until creamy and smooth.
Add the sifted flour and mix just until the dough forms a ball.wrap the dough in plastic wrap and chill in the fridge for 30 minutes.
Preheat the oven to 180° (gas mark 6) fan oven and line a baking tray with greaseproof paper. Spread the sweet pastry between two sheets of greaseproof paper, about 3mm thick.
Cut out round or rectangular shapes using a cookie cutter, taking care to cut out two different sizes as explained above.Place the smallest shapes on the baking tray and pour a teaspoon of jam in the middle.
Cover the jam with the larger shapes, taking care to cut out a heart or other symbol if you wish.Bake the pop tarts in the oven for 15 minutes, until they are golden brown.The baking time may vary depending on the power of the oven.
Once out of the oven, leave the pop tarts to cool to room temperature.
