Rosemary takes its name from the Latin rosmarinus, which means sea dew. Native to the Mediterranean basin, rosemary has been known since ancient times. Greek students wore crowns of rosemary to stimulate their minds.
Rosemary has a distinctive fragrant flavour. It can be added to soups, stuffings, sauces and marinades. Its slightly camphorated flavour perfumes roasted meats such as lamb or pork.
